EKG Rhythm Bootcamp for Nursing Students
Struggling to recognize cardiac rhythms?
This 4-hour intensive workshop helps nursing students master rhythm interpretation using a simple step-by-step method taught by an experienced ICU nurse and nursing educator.
Students will learn how to identify common arrhythmias, recognize life-threatening rhythms, and apply clinical reasoning to patient scenarios.
Perfect for:
RN students
LVN students
paramedic students
new graduate nurses
Cost: $50 per student
10 seats available per 4 hr session
Bootcamp Schedule
Hour 1 — Foundations of Rhythm Interpretation
Goal: Remove the confusion.
Topics:
• Cardiac conduction system review
• P wave, PR interval, QRS, QT interval
• Normal sinus rhythm criteria
• The 6-step rhythm interpretation method
1️⃣ Rate
2️⃣ Rhythm
3️⃣ P waves
4️⃣ PR interval
5️⃣ QRS
6️⃣ Interpretation
Hour 2 — Sinus Rhythms & Atrial Rhythms
Students practice identifying:
• Sinus bradycardia
• Sinus tachycardia
• Atrial fibrillation
• Atrial flutter
• Supraventricular tachycardia
Example scenarios:
"A 72-year-old with COPD becomes suddenly tachycardic with irregular rhythm."
Students connect rhythm to real clinical thinking.
Hour 3 — Heart Blocks & Ventricular Rhythms
Heart blocks
• 1st degree
• 2nd degree type I (Wenckebach)
• 2nd degree type II
• 3rd degree block
Ventricular rhythms
• PVCs
• Ventricular tachycardia
• Ventricular fibrillation
Hour 4 — Rapid Recognition + Clinical Scenarios
fun and high energy activities:
Rhythm Challenge
Show rhythm strips quickly.
Students shout out:
rate

diagnosis
Code Blue Scenarios
Example:
"Patient suddenly loses consciousness. Monitor shows this rhythm."
Students will be able to answer the following questions.
• What rhythm is this?
• Is the patient stable?
• What is the priority action?
NCLEX-Style Questions
Practice prioritization:
Example:
A patient on telemetry develops ventricular tachycardia.
What is the priority action?
